complete Diversity mentoring package

The Disability Connect Mentoring Scheme offers external reverse mentors and training for diversity mentors. We also offer a complete diversity mentoring or reverse mentoring package. We will set-up, train and facilitate a tailored and targeted mentoring scheme within your organisation focused on disability.

A traditional diversity mentoring scheme can help to –

  • Increase understanding across your senior managers of the challenges and barrier your disabled employees are facing.
  • Create and enable a pipeline of disabled talent in your organisation - increasing retention, engagement and succession planning.
  • Utilise internal talent of both mentors and mentees - building mentoring capability and investing in leadership development.

A reverse diversity mentoring scheme can help with –

  • Increase knowledge and understanding across your senior managers of disability to break down the direct and indirect barriers your organisation may be facing to achieve a inclusive work environment.
  • Actively build a comprehensive and organisation view of the disability challenges within your organisation and gain first-hand insights and knowledge from your disabled employees.
  • Build internal reverse mentoring skills by providing your disabled employees with a platform to engage with senior colleagues across your organisation whilst building confidence and mentoring capability.

Diversity mentoring schemes are complex and challenging to set-up and deliver. They need to be results focused and the mentor to mentee match needs to be well considered and strategic. If used correctly, they can drive effective and long-term change through the mentors and mentees incorporating their insight and gained skills into the day-to-day decisions and operations of your organisation.

What will the package cover?

  • Support from Disability Connect in designing your mentoring package. During this process we will help you to define clear organisation diversity and inclusion goals and objectives from the mentoring package to ensure the greatest impact within your organisation.
  • A strategically designed and delivered mentor and mentee application process and personalised mentor/mentee matching based on organisational and person requirements for taking part.
  • Comprehensive diversity mentoring training for all mentors taking part (please see Diversity Mentor Training for more information)
  • An overview of the mentoring scheme presented to all mentees to outline their role and what they should expect from the scheme.
  • Support and advice to both mentors and mentees and regular check-ins over the course of the mentoring relationship.
  • Provision of comprehensive mentoring resources including a tailored mentoring guide and mentor and mentee workbook.
  • Support from Disability Connect to evaluate the success of the scheme and the next steps.

As the mentoring package will utilise your internal people, active engagement and buy-in of both mentors and mentees will be required within your organisation to maximise the benefits of the scheme.
